CKU Kansas City

I can’t believe after months and months of preparing, waiting and anticipating CKU Kansas City, it is now over and just a memory. But what a memory! I had the most wonderful time. I do believe it was everything I ever imagined and more.

My friend Alicia went with me and we roomed with two other women, total strangers I might add, and had a blast. It is hard enough for four women…all very different to get along in a small confined area anyway, but we did great. No real spats or tragedies other than a lost hairbrush and misplaced Make-N-Takes.

Meeting the celebs was fun. I have always like Lisa Bearnson, Ali Edwards and Tracy White, but after meeting them and taking classes…I think Ali ROCKS. She is so fun and down to earth. Her class on color was great. She told us during the class this would be the last time she was slated to teach this class at CK events and I am so glad I signed up to take it. She gave such a wonderful instate to the color in the world around us.

The bus tour on Wednesday was very long, but well worth the time spent. Scrapbook Dreamers and The Scrapbook Page did a wonderful job hosting, providing refreshments and make-n-takes. Great give a ways and discounts offered as well.

The classes were great…all except the Scrapworks class. You know the Scrapworks albums, the ones with the pockets that are 4x6 and you make little matted cards to put in them with photos and embellishments. It really does not take much imagination and I felt like they were pretty beginner type classes. They were generous with their products, but again very basic stuff.

The 7Gypsies classes and the Momentous Techniques class by Junkiz was AWSOME! Learned new techniques and ideas that I can carryover and use again and again. I would highly recommend them to anyone wanting a challenge.

Probably the hightlite of the event was our Dorm, The Goddesses of Scrapbooking, won the Dorm Contest for Dress/Costume. Very fun and great goodies for winning for all eight of us. What a great time. I am hoping to post a few pics to my blog as well.

Later, Kathy
