I can't believe it has come and gone so fast. Our third annual fall Crop Camp event was a success and is now just memories and 300+ photos to be sorted through.
Friday morning of camp arrived too early. After being at the camp until nearly 8:30 pm, driving the 20 minutes home and settling in two borders for the night...I finally was able to relax and close my eyes at almost 11pm. When the alarm went off at 5:30 am, I nearly jumped out of my skin. What was I thinking getting up so early. Needless to say after a shower and a cup of java with lots of French vanilla creamer, I was good to go.
I met the girls at Wal-Mart parking lot at 7:30 am and off we went. I don't think I sat down again until I ate supper around 7:30 pm. Too wired up with all the excitement and too busy making sure everyone was getting settled in to their crop spot, I didn't even think a thing of staying up until the crop room closed at 2:00 am.
When I finally went to my bunk room, showered and settled in, it was almost 4:15 am and my alarm on my phone was set for 5:30 am to get up and get the crop room opened again at 7:00 am. Not long after I opened up the first glassy eyed cropper stumbled in to the crop room and Saturday was run, run, run all day until 4:00 am again.
Thank goodness Sunday calmed down a little and after cropping until 5:00pm, picking up and loading the car...I left Camp Horizon with a smile on my face knowing we had done it again!
The future holds our first Oklahoma camp in Bartlesville in March, and though I know it will be another exhausting weekend, I look forward to it with the excitement of a child waiting for Christmas morning.
